About me
I was born in Singapore and immigrated to Vancouver, Canada at a young age. I currently work from my home studio. I am shaped by these immigrant experiences in my life and I am inspired as an artist to embed this experience in my work.
My work portrays domestic objects and foods. I hope the viewer can connect and even empathize with subjects that may initially seem mundane. Paper bags, Chinese sauce jars, and fruits - to me, these objects are just as interesting as the people who use them. I hope my goal can be accomplished if I depict my subjects with sensitivity, vulnerability, and love.
I have studied painting at the Art Students League of New York and the School of Visual Arts. To me, art is meditative and consuming practice. I always find myself losing my sense of time while painting.
